Mac is known to have good support using the iCab browser, as this comment seems to indicate. This comment and the ones following it seem to indicate that the Mozilla team is working on a way to correct the rendering on Mac. You may also find an unreviewed patch that makes things work for Mozilla on OSX.

If you are a mac user and have more information about setup, please let us know about browser settings, email clients, newsreaders and text editors that can be used for devanagari on Mac.
